Angiosperms are known as flowering plants, they produce seeds like gymnosperms but seed is enclosed within a fruit and endosperm is within the seed. They are almost found every where on the planet in forests, deserts, grasslands, ponds and marshes. There are more than 352,000 species of angiosperms in 405 families, thus making it the most diverse group of land plants.

Nearly all of the plant based food is from Leguminosae (bean family), Solanaceae (potato family), Poaceae (grass family), Rosaceae (rose family), Brassicaceae (mustard family), Apiaceae (parsley family), Rutaceae (rue family) and Cucurbitaceae (gourd family) families of angiosperms.
